FILM

I've...

..always, or at least as far back as I can remember, been a movie-buff. Good or bad? I don't know. But what I do know is that film has given me many hours of entertainment, hours that I honestly can't think of what I should have done to have spent them "better".

It is not the first film I ever saw, by far, but it is the film that I think has had the strongest influence on me. Which film? Well, let me tell you a little story of how a young boy, a VCR and a TV can get best pals despite summer break, sparking sun and friends who wants to play. The year I seem to have forgotten, maybe if I asked my mother or my aunt they could tell me, but that is of secondary concern. The main concern is that my aunt was looking after me and my sister during the summer break from school. Her husband, who at this point worked at the local TV-store, was not as much a film freak as a technical freak. He was probably among the first in our town to buy a VCR player, and he was for sure among the first three to buy a satellite dish. But what about the film? Does it have a title? The thing was that me and my sister arrived every morning to my aunt around 06:45 am. Not many of your friends were up at that time during the break so we were sort of let to enjoying ourself. Well, our cousins were there but since they all are girls and I therefor was the only boy, I tried to stay out of their and my sisters way the best I could. I soon discovered the collection of VHS films that stood in a shelf in the living room and started to walk my way through the tapes. After a few days I came across the film with capital F in this case. It's hard to say what it was in the film that was so great but I remember coming back to it every day. I know I watched it at least ones each day and sometimes it could be up til three times a day. So what's the name of the movie? Patience, I'll get to that in just a bit. I remember that I just loved the opening. Where the ship is intervened and finally captured. The white warriors that attack, the dark and crimson bad guy who could lift a man with only one hand and the beautiful princess that gets imprisoned. At this point I actually had no idea what the title of the film was, but I knew it was by far the best I've ever seen. It was not until a few years later, when I watched one of the sequels at a friend, as it got a name in my world. And what film was it then? Of course it was one of the greatest phenomenon of that time, and now for that matter; STAR WARS!

So, that was just a little story to give you an insight of how my mind works. I've been equally blown away by other films since then, but this was the first time so it's special in some kind of way. But don't judge my taste in films just because it was SW. Don't get me wrong here, I love SW, but I don't think they are the greatest films ever made. I love a broad variety of films and I am somewhat of an "all eater" in genres. And below you'll find links to my movie library as well as to a "top ten" list that could give you a hint about my taste:
